Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa has praised the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for its policies aimed at protecting public safety and reducing traffic accidents.
Shaikh Rashid, who also chairs the Traffic Council, said that the recent Royal decree introducing amendments to the Traffic Law reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to safeguard lives and property while strengthening Bahrain’s legislative system.
The updated law includes tougher penalties for traffic violations. According to the Minister, these measures are designed to regulate driver behaviour, discourage reckless practices, and reduce the risk of serious accidents. He stressed that modernising traffic laws is an ongoing effort to keep pace with developments in road safety standards and to promote a culture of responsibility among all road users.
He noted that the Ministry of Interior has already taken firm steps to enforce the law through strict legal measures, and that a dedicated team has been working closely with relevant authorities to review and draft the latest amendments.
The Minister also commended the General Directorate of Traffic for its role in monitoring violations and leading awareness campaigns that encourage safer driving habits across the Kingdom.
