Under Bahrain’s chairmanship of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Geneva, the Arab League has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University for Peace (UPEACE) to strengthen academic cooperation in the fields of peace, development, and human rights.

The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Arab League Mission in Geneva and was attended by Ambassador Abdulla Abdullatif Abdulla, Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organisations in Geneva; Hichem Bayoudh, Permanent Observer of the League of Arab States to the United Nations Office at Geneva; David Fernández, Permanent Observer of UPEACE to the United Nations Office in Geneva; alongside several Arab ambassadors accredited in Geneva and a delegation from UPEACE.

Ambassador Abdulla said the agreement reflects efforts to deepen partnerships between the Arab League and international academic institutions. He noted that the collaboration will allow Arab professionals to benefit from the University for Peace and UN programmes, especially in the area of multilateral relations, and will support broader goals of peacebuilding and sustainable development.
