Civil Defence Launches Swimming Pool Safety Campaign Across Bahrain

Bahrain’s General Directorate of Civil Defence has launched a new awareness campaign, “Prevention and Safety in Swimming Pools,” to ensure safer swimming experiences for both pool owners and users. The initiative is being rolled out across all governorates in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Electricity and Water Authority, and the Coast Guard.

The campaign focuses on teaching the public how to prevent accidents and maintain safe pool environments. Officials are urging pool owners to install safety devices, ensure first aid kits are available, check electrical connections, and keep pools clean and well-maintained. Parents are also reminded never to leave children unattended in the water.

Field teams have been visiting pools to share safety tips directly with users and operators. They have distributed booklets, posters, and safety-themed giveaways, while also stressing the importance of having firefighting and alarm equipment like fire extinguishers, fire blankets, smoke detectors, and keeping gas cylinders outside pool areas.

By raising awareness, the Civil Defence hopes to reduce accidents and encourage a culture of safety around swimming pools throughout the Kingdom.
