Bomb explosion: 11 men get jail
Eleven Bahraini defendants have been convicted in connection with detonating a bomb near a local exchange outlet in Saar on April 23 this year.
Nine of the defendants were handed down 10 years in prison, but the remaining two were given only five years in jail, as they are minors.
The defendants reportedly burned tyres and placed a gas cylinder in the middle of them near the shop.
The accident caused damage to the outlet as well as other nearby shops, according
to the court files.
Five of the eleven were initially arrested after police launched an investigation into the incident.
The first defendant told prosecutors that he met the third defendant in a mosque and the latter told him that they are going to assemble near a cold store and
they would riot.
He said that the 10th and 11th defendant told him that they were going to burn tyres. The defendants were convicted before the High Criminal Court with arson and possessing firebombs as well as disturbing the public security.
