Time Zone Glitch Hits Mobile Devices – TRA Issues Urgent Notice
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has received several reports from mobile users across Bahrain about their phones showing the wrong time or automatically switching to the incorrect time zone.
In response, the TRA is advising the public to manually check and adjust their device settings to ensure the correct time is displayed, which is essential for smooth service performance and timely communications.
“We’re aware of the issue and actively monitoring the situation. In the meantime, we urge all users to double-check their time and time zone settings,” the TRA said in a statement.
Here’s how you can fix the issue based on your phone type:
For Android Users:
-
Open the Settings app
-
Tap System or General Management
-
Tap Date & Time
-
Turn off Automatic Date & Time and Automatic Time Zone
-
Tap Select Time Zone and choose "Gulf Standard Time" or "Manama"
-
Adjust the time manually if needed
For iPhone (iOS) Users:
-
Open Settings
-
Tap General
-
Tap Date & Time
-
Turn off Set Automatically
-
Tap Time Zone and search for "Manama"
-
Set the time manually if needed
These quick steps will help keep your device synced with the local time while TRA continues to investigate and resolve the issue.
