Bahrain’s election to the United Nations Security Council for 2026–2027 shows the standing the country has earned among its peers and the trust placed in its part on the world stage, MP Dr Maryam Al Dhaen has said.

She traced the outcome to the judgement of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, whose steady hand in foreign matters, she said, had built Bahrain’s standing as a country that backs peace and prefers dialogue to noise.

Dr Al Dhaen also pointed to the role of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, crediting the government’s approach for widening Bahrain’s reach abroad through patience and quiet strength.

She praised Foreign Minister, His Excellency Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and the country’s mission in New York for their work behind the scenes, saying their effort helped draw broad support among UN member states.

Bahrain’s seat, she said, would not be a badge for show but a chance to help ease disputes, stand up for peace, and keep lines of talk open in a world too often short of calm words.
