Scrap cars around Isa Town market will be removed gradually, MP Maryam Al Dhaen has said, as efforts continue to clear the site and improve traffic, parking and hygiene.
The abandoned vehicles have long caused problems around the souq, blocking parking spots, making it harder for drivers to move through the area, and attracting rubbish.
Dr Al Dhaen said the gradual removal would help emergency vehicles access the market more easily and improve conditions for residents and shopkeepers.
She thanked Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture, His Excellency Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, for issuing instructions to follow up the matter, describing the ministry’s response as a step towards resolving an issue that had dragged on.
The lawmaker said locals and traders had repeatedly raised concerns over the buildup of rusting cars and its effect on business, safety, and the appearance of the market.
Dr Al Dhaen called for coordination between the relevant bodies to keep the work going and make sure the area remains clean and organised for visitors and those who live nearby.
