Capital General Secretariat Board’s Deputy Chairman, Mazin Al Omran stated they aim to implement an awareness campaign to stop the selling of used cars on public roads and residential areas in accordance with its rules and regulations.

The decision was taken in a meeting held yesterday in the Capital Secretariat building with representatives from the General Directorate of Traffic and Labour Ministry, in the attendance of Colonel Ali Al Nuaimi, Director of Operations Management and Traffic Control and Director of Legal Affairs, Ammar Yasser.

Al Omran said warning signs to stop the selling of vehicles in public areas have been placed in several popular selling areas including Al Fateh Grand Mosque in Juffair, parking lots of Gudhaibiya Mosque and Abu Bakr Alseddiq Mosque, as well as Andalus Garden.

Omran said the secretariat inspectors would track such violations, document the violation by putting sticker on the cars, list them and transfer them to the traffic directorate.

The cars will be towed on the expense of the owners: the municipality would not bear any responsibility, according to the rules and regulations. The procedure is carried out in cooperation with a company specialized in safe removal of vehicles.

Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning Ministry recently allocated land in Salmabad for the sale of such cars. This is also expected to reduce the violation.
