Customs officers sifting through parcels at Bahrain International Airport came across something that didn’t add up — a bundle of brandnew clothes, neatly packed, with something extra tucked inside.
Five clear plastic bags, filled with what looked like dried green leaves. A closer look confirmed the haul: 7.4kg of marijuana, smuggled in from an Asian country.
Authorities decided to let the parcel sit and see who came to collect it.
Soon enough, the first defendant turned up, expecting nothing more than a routine pickup.
Instead, he found himself in cuffs.
When questioned, he didn’t try to hide much — he admitted the parcel wasn’t his idea.
The second defendant had arranged the shipment and sent him to retrieve it.
That led officers to his home, where a deeper search uncovered two blocks of hashish, weighing 1.64kg, tucked away near his bed.
Again, he confessed — the drugs had come straight from his associate.
It wasn’t just a one-off. Investigators found the two had been running a steady operation, flying in large shipments of drugs concealed in ways meant to fool even the sharpest inspectors.
