A Parliamentary Committee investigating housing plans in Salman City has found that the size of apartments is often inadequate for Bahraini families. The finding emerged during a field visit conducted by the committee to assess the effectiveness of housing projects presented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.
The visit, which included members of the committee, the Minister of Housing, and ministry officials, focused on evaluating the latest developments and addressing challenges faced by citizens. A key point of discussion was the size of apartments and housing units.
The committee noted that the current apartment sizes were often inadequate for Bahraini families, especially considering the long waiting periods that often leave families needing larger homes to accommodate their growing size.
Committee members underscored the need to revise designs and sizes to provide more suitable solutions for Bahraini families, taking into account citizens' aspirations and achieving sustainability in housing projects.
Other aspects of the housing plans were also reviewed, including project implementation and service provision. The committee stressed that this visit is part of a series of field visits aimed at evaluating the reality of cities and residential complexes and ensuring the efficient implementation of projects in accordance with the National Housing Plan.
They reiterated their commitment to cooperating with the Ministry of Housing to find practical solutions to current challenges, ensure fairness in the distribution of housing units, and improve the quality of life for citizens.
The committee called for continued dialogue and coordination between the legislative and executive branches to enhance the performance of the housing sector and ensure the implementation of projects according to the highest standards, thereby fulfilling citizens' aspirations for adequate and sustainable housing.
