In a bid to improve road safety and reduce traffic accidents, the General Directorate of Traffic has enforced a new regulation that prohibits the movement of non-licensed bicycles, such as scooters, from main public roads, lanes designated for vehicles, road shoulders, emergency lanes, and adjacent areas prepared for vehicle stopping. This decision comes after rising concerns about the risks posed by the unregulated use of these bicycles, which have led to several accidents, including fatalities and injuries, while also hindering the flow of traffic.

The General Directorate of Traffic highlighted that the ban aims to protect both the lives of pedestrians and vehicle drivers, who have been endangered by the unpredictable presence of these unlicensed bicycles on major roads. The growing number of accidents involving these bicycles has raised alarms, prompting the authorities to act and implement this preventive measure.

To ensure compliance with the new regulation, the directorate confirmed that any violators caught riding these bicycles in restricted areas will face the seizure and confiscation of their bicycles. Legal actions will also be pursued against offenders, underscoring the seriousness of the issue and the importance of adhering to the new safety measures.

The authorities are calling on all road users, including cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists, to cooperate fully with the regulation. By ensuring compliance, they aim to create safer road conditions for everyone and significantly reduce the risk of accidents.

This regulation comes as part of a wider effort to promote road safety across the region, and it is hoped that it will encourage responsible behavior from all road users, further reinforcing the authorities' commitment to protecting public safety and maintaining order on the streets.
