Bahrain's Cabinet Calls for Regional De-escalation and Emphasizes Lebanon’s Sovereignty to Prevent Further Conflicts

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today presided over the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace, where key national and international matters were discussed.

The Cabinet commended Bahrain’s address at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79), delivered by HRH Prince Salman on behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The speech emphasized peace as the foundation for global prosperity and urged reforms within multilateral organizations like the United Nations to better reflect current geopolitical realities.

HRH’s meetings with global leaders, including the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the US President, and the UN Secretary-General on the sidelines of UNGA 79 were also praised. The Cabinet highlighted the strength of Bahrain-UAE relations and affirmed the importance of these meetings in advancing Bahrain's diplomatic engagements.

During the meeting, the Cabinet called for de-escalation in the region and stressed the need to uphold Lebanon’s sovereignty to prevent further conflicts. The Cabinet reaffirmed Bahrain’s national unity and social cohesion as essential to safeguarding the Kingdom’s stability and achievements.

In celebration of World Teachers’ Day, the Cabinet expressed gratitude to Bahraini teachers for their crucial role in shaping the nation’s future through education.

The Cabinet extended condolences to Saudi Arabia following the tragic deaths of two firefighters in Jeddah, and to the UAE for the loss of personnel from its Armed Forces in a recent accident. It wished the injured a swift recovery.

Several memorandums were discussed and approved, including:

Enhancing Bahrain’s E-Government services through developmental initiatives.

-Regulatory procedures for housing services.

-A draft law ratifying the charter of the Digital Cooperation Organisation.

-Designating a new tourist site as part of Bahrain’s efforts to boost tourism.

-Contributions to international organizations and the Kingdom’s financial and economic priorities.

Additionally, the Cabinet reviewed reports on Bahrain's participation in international forums, including discussions on Gaza and Palestine's future, meetings with the UK on Middle East affairs, World Tourism Day celebrations, and the 10th Annual World Congress of the World Free Zones Organisation.

The Cabinet also took note of recent foreign visits by Bahraini Ministers and foreign delegations to the Kingdom in September 2024.
