China, Iran Used AI to Aid Spying, Anthropic Says

San Francisco: According to a report by AI company Anthropic, China and Iran are among the countries where state-linked entities have employed artificial intelligence to enhance espionage and surveillance operations.
Anthropic claimed that their AI models were utilised in intelligence gathering operations such as researching potential targets, evaluating data, and automating cyber and surveillance activities.
According to the business, the incidents highlight how powerful AI may enable intelligence operations to be completed more quickly and on a bigger scale, decreasing the amount of human effort required. Anthropic said it has identified and disrupted accounts associated with the activities, and it was working to tighten controls against the misuse of its technologies.
The findings come as governments and technology corporations express rising concern about state-backed groups using increasingly powerful AI systems for espionage and cyber operations.
