Iraqi conjoined twins successfully separated in Saudi Arabia

A specialist team of surgeons succeded in separating Iraqi conjoined twins Ali and Omar in Riyadh on Thursday, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The six-phase operation, which lasted eleven hours was performed by 27-member team comprising consultants, specialists, nursing and technical staff,

The team was led by Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah.

The successful surgery was carried out in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The medical team succeeded in separating the twins, who were conjoined at the lower chest and abdomen, and shared a liver, bile ducts, and intestines.
