Bangkok: Forensics confirmed the cause of death was suffocation for the teenager whose body was found in a suitcase in Pattaya in June this year, with matching DNA evidence directly linking the arrested Australian suspect.

Investigators revealed that DNA recovered from 17-year-old Thunchanok Donhomla matched that of 45-year-old Australian national Simon Peter Carman. Officials noted the genetic transfer occurred when the suspect packed her body into the suitcase.

Surveillance footage showed Carman transporting the heavy luggage from his apartment on a motorcycle before abandoning it near railway tracks. Local police intercepted him at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport while attempting to board an international flight.

Carman remains in custody facing charges including murder, concealing a corpse, and minor abduction.
