New Wildfire Erupts Near Athens as Strong Winds Fuel Flames

Athens: A new wildfire started Monday morning southeast of Athens, prompting Greek firefighters to rush to contain the flames as strong gusts made the task more difficult.
Approximately 172 firefighters and 40 firefighting vehicles were deployed to the region, with crews battling to keep the fire from spreading. The incident comes as Greece has been dealing with a series of wildfires in recent days, with hot, dry, and windy conditions posing a high fire risk around the country.
The recent fire has added to the pressure on emergency services, which are already dealing with significant fires throughout the Athens region.
