UK Offers Support To Spain Over Ceuta Crisis, Says PM Burnham

LONDON: UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced that the United Kingdom has offered support to Spain to help manage an escalating migrant crisis at the border of its North African enclave of Ceuta.
The offer of assistance comes as thousands of migrants have crossed into the Spanish territory from neighboring Morocco, placing immense pressure on local security forces and humanitarian infrastructure. Burnham emphasized Britain's commitment to European security cooperation, offering logistical and humanitarian resources to support Spanish authorities.
The crisis was ‘a matter for the Spanish government first and foremost, but it is a cause for concern,’ Burnham told reporters.
The rapid influx into Ceuta has prompted emergency responses from Madrid and raised broader concerns across Europe as regional leaders seek coordinated solutions to address mounting border control challenges.
‘And we are making contact with the Spanish government, the Spanish authorities, to provide support but also to understand the implications of that situation.’
