Israel, Jordan Intercept Two Drones Near Border

Launch Origin Under Investigation as Regional Tensions Rise

Israeli and Jordanian forces intercepted two drones near the Jordanian border on Monday, with authorities investigating their launch origin amid heightened regional tensions.

The Israeli military said the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were detected near the Jordan border and were intercepted before entering Israeli territory.

“Earlier today, the IDF intercepted two UAVs identified in the area of the Jordan border,” the Israeli military said in a statement. “The UAVs did not cross into Israeli territory. The origin of the launch is under review.”

The Jordanian Armed Forces later confirmed that the Royal Jordanian Air Force had intercepted and destroyed two drones that were targeting the Kingdom’s territory.

“The Royal Jordanian Air Force aircraft intercepted and shot down, on Monday morning, two drones that had targeted the Kingdom’s territory,” the army said, adding that the operation caused no casualties or material damage.

The incident comes after Jordan was targeted earlier this month during renewed hostilities between Iran and the United States. Jordanian and Israeli forces had previously intercepted an Iranian missile launched toward the Jordanian city of Aqaba.

Israel has not participated in the latest round of fighting between Iran and the United States, while Jordan has continued to strengthen its air defence measures amid growing security concerns across the region.
