Abu Dhabi: The UAE reaffirmed its strict zero-tolerance stance on drunk driving, warning motorists that offenders face huge fines, imprisonment, and other harsh consequences under the country's traffic rules.
Authorities stated that driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious violation that endangers lives and public safety. Depending on the circumstances, offenders may face jail time, large fines, and the suspension of their driving rights, with courts determining the penalty.
Officials also cautioned that vehicles implicated in drunk driving crimes might be seized, and repeated or major violations could result in heavier penalties. The UAE has recommended motorists to take taxis or designated drivers instead of driving after consuming alcohol.
The updated warning emphasises that actions that endanger lives are not tolerated as authorities continue their nationwide efforts to increase road safety and lower traffic accidents brought on by careless and intoxicated driving.
