Six workers die in fire at construction site in Brussels

Brussels: Six workers died Tuesday in a fire at the Oxy Tower, a residential building undergoing renovation in the heart of Brussels. The incident occurred as construction work continued at the busy city-center site.
Several workers became trapped in an elevator shaft while the fire spread across multiple floors. Emergency services successfully extinguished the blaze by early afternoon, with civil protection units assisting in the recovery efforts.
Authorities confirmed six bodies were recovered from the site. Two additional victims sustained serious injuries and were transported to local hospitals for urgent medical treatment.
King Philippe and Prime Minister Bart De Wever visited the scene to meet with rescuers. Meanwhile, labor inspectors have launched an investigation to determine if the site fully complied with all necessary safety regulations.
