China Growth Slows, Raising Pressure for More Stimulus

Beijing: China's economy expanded more slowly than projected in the most recent reporting period, falling short of the government's growth target as poor consumer spending, a prolonged property sector collapse, and weak domestic demand continued to weigh on the world's second-largest economy.
The disappointing performance has raised fears about China's economic recovery, despite government efforts to boost development through policy assistance and infrastructure spending. Exports have brought some respite, but not enough to balance ongoing domestic concerns.
Economists believe Beijing will need to implement additional stimulus measures in the coming months to raise consumer confidence, support firms, and stabilise the housing market as it strives to revive economic growth.
