Biddeford, United States: Federal immigration agents fatally shot a 26-year-old Colombian man in Biddeford, Maine, on Monday, marking the second lethal encounter involving federal officers in less than one week. The incident has intensified mounting public criticism of President Trump’s aggressive deportation crackdown.

This latest tragedy follows the July 7 death of 52-year-old Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston, Texas, during a similar enforcement operation.

The frequency of these lethal encounters has raised urgent questions regarding the agency's use-of-force policies and operational oversight.

While the Department of Homeland Security asserts that agents acted to ensure public safety, witnesses have consistently disputed these official narratives, arguing the victims posed no immediate threat to the armed agents.

Significantly, federal authorities confirmed that agents involved in both cases were not wearing body-worn cameras. This absence of footage has complicated independent verification of the events.

With at least nine deaths now attributed to recent operations, rights groups are demanding independent investigations into the administration’s enforcement strategies and greater institutional transparency.
