Trump says Reflecting Pool to be refilled after repairs

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump said that the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall will be refilled once repair and maintenance work is done, ensuring that the iconic landmark will be restored shortly after being temporarily emptied.
The pool, which runs between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument, was drained to allow workmen to work on structural repairs, remove accumulated sediment and trash, and carry out maintenance to preserve the historic monument and improve water quality.
Trump stated that the restoration work is going as planned, and that the Reflecting Pool will be refilled after the project is completed. The iconic structure is one of Washington's most popular sights, and it has long hosted presidential inaugurations, national commemorations, protests, and major civil rights events, like as Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1963 ‘I Have a Dream’ address.
Officials said the maintenance is designed to maintain the ageing infrastructure and keep the Reflecting Pool in good shape for millions of tourists each year.
