The UAE Ministry of Defense has announced that two UAE-flagged oil tankers, Mombasa and Bahia, were struck by two Iranian cruise missiles while transiting the southern passage of the Strait of Hormuz in Omani territorial waters.

The attack killed one crew member aboard the Mombasa, an Indian national, and injured eight others. The injured include six Indian nationals and two Ukrainian nationals, with four of the victims reported to be in serious condition. The missile strikes also caused significant damage to both vessels, triggering onboard fires that have since been brought under control.

The Ministry of Defense strongly condemned what it described as a “brazen attack,” calling it a serious violation of international law and a threat to regional security and stability. It stated that the UAE reserves the right to respond to the escalation and take all necessary measures to protect its territory, citizens, residents, and national interests.

The ministry added that the country’s armed forces remain on high alert and are fully prepared to respond to any threats against the UAE’s security and stability. It also urged the public to rely only on official sources for information and avoid spreading rumors or unverified reports.
