The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) carried out a new wave of offensive strikes against Iran, targeting dozens of military sites across multiple locations today, in an effort to weaken Tehran’s ability to attack international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to CENTCOM, the precision strikes hit Iranian air defense systems, coastal radar installations, missile and drone capabilities, as well as small military boats. The operation involved U.S. fighter aircraft, naval vessels, one-way attack aerial drones and, for the first time, one-way attack sea drones.

CENTCOM said the operation was aimed at safeguarding freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes. The command stressed that Iran does not control the strategic waterway and reaffirmed that U.S. forces remain prepared to ensure commercial shipping can transit safely despite what it described as Iran’s continued aggression, harassment, threats and arbitrary declarations.
