Missile and Drone Debris Triggers Fires in Kuwait Amid Regional Tensions

Kuwait City : Kuwait's firefighting authorities responded to two separate fires early Saturday after debris from intercepted Iranian missiles and drones fell in different areas of the country, highlighting growing security concerns across the Gulf region.

Brigadier General Mohammed Bader Ibrahim, spokesperson for the Kuwait Fire Force, said emergency teams were dispatched after Kuwait's air defence systems intercepted incoming aerial threats overnight. The falling debris sparked fires, prompting a rapid response from firefighters and other government agencies.

The incidents occurred during a period of heightened regional tensions following Iranian missile and drone launches towards targets in the Gulf. Loud explosions heard across parts of Kuwait were linked to interception operations carried out by the country's air defence forces, according to officials.

Mohammed said firefighting units were deployed to several locations as a precaution and worked in coordination with relevant authorities to secure affected areas and assess potential risks.

He also urged citizens and residents not to approach suspicious objects or attempt to handle debris from missiles or drones, warning that unexploded fragments could pose serious dangers. Residents were asked to report any such objects immediately through the emergency hotline 112.

The incidents came shortly after Kuwait temporarily closed its airspace while authorities assessed the security situation. Air traffic later resumed after officials said conditions had stabilised and the immediate threat had passed.

No casualties were reported from the fires, while authorities continued to monitor developments amid ongoing tensions across the region.
