PARIS: A 17-year-old boy in France has been charged with premeditated murder following a fatal stabbing that originated from a social media dispute. The adolescent appeared in court on Monday in Meaux, near Paris, where he was arraigned and placed in custody.
According to local prosecutor Jean-Michel Bladier, the ‘mortal chain of events’ began after the suspect was repeatedly rejected as a contact on TikTok by a girl.
The escalation peaked on Saturday during a heated telephone call, leading to a challenge to fight at a campsite in Villevaudé. The suspect allegedly arrived armed with a knife, claiming he wanted to ‘show he wasn't afraid,’ before stabbing another 17-year-old boy in the chest.
Despite the suspect's claim that he ‘lost his head’ and did not intend to kill, the premeditated nature of the weapon choice remains central to the prosecution. The suspect remains in custody pending a follow-up hearing this Thursday.
