MIAMI: Lionel Messi has sparked an injury scare ahead of the World Cup after being diagnosed with left hamstring fatigue. Inter Miami announced on Monday that further medical tests revealed a muscle overload following his sudden exit from Sunday's match.

The Major League Soccer club did not provide a definitive timeline for his recovery, stating his return depends entirely on clinical and functional progress. The 38-year-old superstar clutched the back of his leg before asking to be substituted in the 73rd minute of Miami’s 6-4 victory over Philadelphia.

The timing of the injury creates immense uncertainty for defending champions Argentina, whose campaign begins on June 16 against Algeria. While Messi walked off unassisted, any muscle issue so close to the tournament threatens his availability for a record-matching sixth finals appearance.
