Istanbul: Severe rainfall in southern Türkiye’s Hatay province has caused deadly flooding, road collapses, and widespread damage, leaving at least two people dead and prompting large-scale rescue operations.

One of the most serious incidents took place in the Antakya district, where a house built on a hillside collapsed onto a road after heavy overnight rain. Emergency teams including firefighters, medical staff, police, and disaster management units were deployed to the scene. Three people were rescued alive from the debris, while one person was found dead.

In another incident, a road collapse led to a vehicle losing control and plunging into a stream bed. The driver was killed, authorities said, bringing the death toll from the weather-related incidents to two.

The intense rainfall also disrupted transport across the province, forcing the temporary closure of several roads and causing major traffic delays.

Floodwaters entered homes and businesses in multiple areas, leaving residents stranded and prompting additional rescue efforts by emergency teams working across affected districts.

Authorities are continuing damage assessments and relief operations as unstable conditions and further weather risks remain a concern in the region.
