Iran Says Diplomacy Better Than War as Fragile Ceasefire Enters Day 43

Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said “mutual respect in diplomacy is far wiser, safer, and more sustainable than war” as tensions across the Middle East remained high despite ongoing ceasefire efforts between the United States, Israel, Iran and Lebanon.
The comments came as Tehran reviewed Washington’s latest proposal aimed at preventing further escalation. U.S. President Donald Trump said he was willing to wait a few more days for Iran’s response, although he warned that military action remained possible if diplomacy failed.
Iran is also seeking a new mechanism with Oman regarding navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global oil shipping route that has faced repeated disruptions during the conflict. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also reportedly told Trump that issues with Iran could still be resolved through dialogue.
The broader regional crisis has also heightened concerns over global energy security and maritime safety, with Gulf countries and international organisations closely monitoring threats to shipping routes and oil infrastructure.
