KARACHI: A Pakistani court has sentenced a man to death for the murder of teenage TikTok star Sana Yousaf. The convict, identified as Ali Raza, was found guilty of shooting the 18-year-old social media influencer in the city of Lahore.
According to judicial officials, the attack stemmed from a personal dispute after Yousaf rejected Raza’s marriage proposal. Raza intercepted the teenager in a public area before opening fire, causing fatal injuries. He was arrested shortly after the incident following a swift police investigation.
The case has drawn widespread attention in Pakistan, highlighting the ongoing dangers and severe violence faced by women, particularly digital creators and influencers. Activists note that public women are frequently targeted for their personal choices.
Following the verdict, the court ordered the confiscation of the convict's property alongside the death penalty, though the sentence remains subject to a high court appeal.
