Dubai: Dubai Police, in coordination with the UAE Ministry of Interior, have arrested an Irish fugitive linked to an organised criminal network involved in international offences. The suspect, identified as Daniel Kinahan, was taken into custody within 48 hours of an arrest order issued by Dubai Public Prosecution on April 15, 2026.

The swift operation followed intensive surveillance, investigation, and search efforts. Authorities acted on a judicial file submitted by Irish officials detailing the charges against Kinahan and his alleged role in a global criminal organisation. Based on this, Dubai prosecutors issued a warrant to begin legal procedures ahead of potential extradition.

Dubai Police reaffirmed their commitment to tackling cross-border crime, emphasising close cooperation with international law enforcement agencies to strengthen global security.

Ireland’s national broadcaster RTÉ reported that the country’s police force, An Garda Síochána, is aware of the arrest. Kinahan, 40, has previously been identified by authorities as a leading figure in the Kinahan organised crime cartel. In April 2022, the United States imposed sanctions on him and several family members over alleged involvement in organised crime activities.
