Burundi Media Minister Gabby Bugaga Dies in Suspected Accident

Bujumbura: The government of Burundi has announced the death of Communication and Media Minister Gabby Bugaga in a sudden accident on Thursday morning.
Government spokesperson Jerome Niyonzima expressed condolences to the minister’s family and colleagues, calling it a painful loss for the country. Details of the funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Bugaga had been serving as communication minister since August 2025 and previously worked with the country’s electoral commission.
Reports from the scene said he was found dead inside his vehicle in a plantation area near Bujumbura. The exact circumstances of the accident are still unclear, and authorities have not provided further details.
