Iran Frees Japanese National on Bail, Travel Ban Remains

Tokyo:Japan said Iran has freed a Japanese national held since January, but the person is not allowed to leave the country, according to Kyodo News.
The individual is believed to be an NHK bureau chief in Tehran.Government spokesman Minoru Kihara said the embassy confirmed the release on April 6 and that the person is in good health.Reports said the individual was released on bail, faces security-related charges, and is expected to stand trial.
The person was detained on January 20 and reportedly held in a prison for political detainees.
