Tehran: Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant was hit on late Friday, the UN atomic watchdog (IAEA) stated. This is the third such incident in a series of Israeli military strikes over the past 10 days. However, the strike did not cause any radiation leak or damage to the power plant.
Requesting ‘maximum military restraint,’ IAEA Chief Rafael Grossi said any strike aiming to damage a reactor would have major repercussions. Without naming Bushehr, the Israel military on Friday said that it had struck a heavy water reactor and a uranium processing plant in central Iran.
According to the IAEA, Iran’s sole operational nuclear power reactor is at the Bushehr plant in the southwest, which first linked to the grid in 2011.
