Tehran: Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned on Sunday that critical infrastructure and energy facilities across the Middle East could face 'irreversible destruction' if Iranian power plants are targeted.

In remarks posted on X, Qalibaf said regional infrastructure would become 'legitimate targets' in the event of an attack on Iran’s facilities, adding that any retaliation could temporarily drive up global oil prices.

The warning follows a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened to strike Iranian power plants if the Strait of Hormuz is not kept 'fully open' within 48 hours.

The exchange underscores rising tensions in the region, with concerns growing over the potential impact on energy supplies and global markets.
