Suspect Confesses to Killing Three Children in Egypt’s Menoufia

The suspect in the killing of three children in Al-Rahib village, Menoufia Governorate, Egypt, has given detailed confessions to investigators, revealing the motive behind the crime that shocked the country.

The accused, identified as Mahmoud, said the incident was not related to theft or assault, as widely rumoured. Instead, he claimed the crime was an act of personal revenge against the children’s father.

Long-standing Dispute Led to Tragedy

According to his statements, the suspect had long-standing and serious disputes with the children’s father. He admitted that he targeted the children as a means of revenge, describing it as, in his view, the only way to end the conflict.

Fourth Victim Killed by Chance

Investigations revealed that a young female relative of the children happened to be with them at the time of the incident. The suspect decided to kill her as well, fearing she could expose him. As a result, the crime claimed the lives of three siblings and their young relative.

Crime Took Place in an Abandoned House

The suspect told investigators that he lured the children while they were returning from private lessons to an abandoned house owned by his grandfather. He exploited their trust, as he worked with their father, to carry out the crime before fleeing the scene.

Denial of Assault or Theft Claims

The accused firmly denied reports suggesting any form of assault or theft, including the theft of gold items. He insisted that his sole motive was revenge against the children’s father.

Criminal Record Raises Questions

Investigators also discovered that the suspect had previously been accused in another murder case but was acquitted due to a lack of evidence. This revelation has raised serious concerns about his violent behaviour.

Authorities ordered his detention for four days pending further investigation. He was identified within hours of the crime after security forces reviewed surveillance footage showing him walking with the children shortly before they disappeared
