India’s PM Narendra Modi Receives Ethiopia's Great Honour Nishan, First Global Leader to be Conferred

Addis Ababa: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Ethiopia's highest civilian award ‘The Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia’ by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali during his two-day visit to the country.

The award was conferred in recognition of his exceptional contribution to strengthening India-Ethiopia partnership and visionary leadership as a global statesman. Modi is the first global Head of State to receive this award.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi expressed gratitude and humility, dedicating the award to Indians and Ethiopians who nurtured bilateral ties. He highlighted India's commitment to education and knowledge sharing, noting Indian teachers' significant contributions to Ethiopia's progress.

The award marks a milestone in India-Ethiopia relations, furthering the Global South's positive agenda. PM Modi's visit has elevated ties to a strategic partnership, focusing on cooperation in economy, innovation, technology, defence and health.
