Doctor who supplied ketamine to Mathew Perry sentenced to 30 months behind bars
Los Angeles: Salvador Plasencia, the doctor who provided the Friends actor, Matthew Perry, with ketamine in the weeks leading up to his fatal 2023 overdose, was sentenced on Wednesday to 30 months in federal prison. The doctor acknowledged exploiting Perry, fully aware of his battle with addiction. Court filings reveal that Plasencia even texted another physician, calling Perry a “moron” he could profit from.
Before the sentence was delivered in a Los Angeles federal court, Plasencia apologized to Perry’s family, acknowledging that he had betrayed his duty as a doctor.
Plasencia entered a guilty plea in July to four ketamine distribution charges, despite not supplying the fatal amount. He was then placed in handcuffs and taken into custody by federal marshals.
The four remaining defendants linked to Perry’s death are still awaiting sentencing.
