Oman Unveils New Currency Symbol on National Day
Manama: The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) officially launched the symbol for the Omani Rial (OMR), marking a major national milestone that embodies Omani identity and strengthens the currency’s global standing.

According to CBO Governor Ahmed Ja’afar Al Musalami, the unified Rial symbol is a strategic move to boost Oman’s position as an emerging financial hub.

The new symbol will enhance recognition of the Rial on financial, commercial and digital platforms worldwide, facilitating international transactions and reinforcing its reputation as a stable currency. It draws inspiration from Oman’s rich heritage, linking modernity to a deep‑rooted economic narrative.

Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, the symbol will standardise the Rial’s appearance across banking systems, reports and platforms, ensuring consistency, clarity and international compliance.
