Magnitude 5.5 Earthquake Strikes China’s Jilin Province Near North Korea Border
A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck the city of Hunchun in China’s northeastern Jilin province on Saturday evening, according to the official Xinhua news agency. The tremor occurred at 7:45 p.m. local time (1145 GMT) at a depth of 560 kilometres (348 miles). Jilin, which shares a border with North Korea, has not yet reported any casualties or damage from the quake.
