Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has welcomed Hamas’s positive reaction to a peace initiative proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, describing it as a hopeful step toward stability in the Middle East.
Speaking at a ceremony in Istanbul on Saturday, President Erdogan praised the group’s willingness to engage in dialogue, noting that this attitude could pave the way for lasting peace.
“Hamas has once again shown that it is ready for peace,” Erdogan said. “A new window of opportunity has opened for enduring peace in our region.”
The Turkish leader’s remarks come amid renewed international efforts to ease tensions and revive dialogue in the region, with Ankara positioning itself as a vocal advocate for diplomatic solutions and regional stability.
