Doha to Host Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit
Doha will host an emergency Arab-Islamic summit on Sunday and Monday to address the fallout from an Israeli attack on the Qatari capital, the Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported Thursday.
In an interview with CNN on Wednesday, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said Doha is consulting with regional partners to determine a coordinated response to Tuesday’s strike.
“The summit will bring together Arab and Islamic leaders in the coming days to agree on a collective course of action,” the Prime Minister said, stressing that Qatar will not dictate how its partners should respond.
Sheikh Mohammed described the Israeli airstrike as “international terrorism,” expressing strong outrage over the attack. “I have no words to express how angry we are at this act… this is terrorism… we have been betrayed,” he said.
He welcomed a statement from US President Donald Trump condemning the strike and urging “practical measures” in response. The Qatari premier also warned that the assault had “killed any hope” for the remaining Israeli captives in Gaza.
The airstrike, which targeted Hamas leaders in Doha, has sparked widespread condemnation across the Arab world and beyond, with many calling it a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law.
