Iran has agreed to a new cooperation framework with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), covering all of its nuclear facilities, the agency’s head Rafael Grossi announced Wednesday.

The deal, reached on Tuesday, follows a suspension of Iran’s cooperation after the 12-day war with Israel in June, during which Israeli and US strikes targeted Iranian nuclear sites. Since then, IAEA inspectors have had limited access to these facilities.

Grossi said the agreement “provides a clear understanding of the procedures for inspections” and includes reporting on all facilities affected by the June attacks, including the nuclear material present.

Under the deal, access to Iran’s nuclear sites now requires approval from the Supreme National Security Council. Recent inspections were limited, with key sites such as Fordo and Natanz remaining off-limits.

“Iran and the agency will now resume cooperation in a respectful and comprehensive way,” Grossi said, adding that practical steps still need to be implemented. He noted there may be challenges ahead but emphasized that the path forward is clear.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that the country would end cooperation if it faced “any hostile action,” including the reimposition of UN Security Council sanctions.

In August, Britain, France, and Germany took steps to reimpose UN sanctions, citing Iran’s continued non-compliance with the 2015 nuclear agreement.
