A sudden storm and heavy rain caused significant disruption in the Turkish capital on Friday evening, affecting traffic, homes, and businesses.
The downpour began in the evening, accompanied by strong winds, leading to water accumulation on several streets and avenues. Drivers struggled to move through flooded roads, while many residents, caught off guard by the sudden weather change, took shelter in nearby buildings waiting for the rain to pass.
In several parts of the city, ground-floor homes and businesses were flooded, and overflowing sewage systems added to the challenges. Some residents were trapped in their homes due to rising water levels but were safely evacuated with help from municipal teams and nearby citizens.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel as cleanup operations continue.
