Turkish Airlines is expanding its reach across Africa through a new partnership with South Africa’s Airlink. The two carriers have signed a codeshare agreement that will come into effect on August 1, 2025, aiming to make travel between Türkiye and Southern Africa more seamless and accessible.

The agreement was officially signed at Airlink’s Head Office in Johannesburg, with top executives from both airlines in attendance.

This strategic collaboration allows Turkish Airlines passengers to book connecting flights operated by Airlink under a single ticket. Travelers flying into Cape Town or Johannesburg with Turkish Airlines will be able to easily continue on to over 45 destinations within South Africa and neighboring countries thanks to Airlink’s strong regional network.

Levent Konukcu, Chief Investment & Strategy Officer at Turkish Airlines, expressed excitement about the partnership. “This agreement will help us improve connectivity in South Africa and beyond. We see great value in working closely with Airlink to offer our guests more travel options, and we also believe this will strengthen tourism and cultural exchange between our countries.”

Airlink CEO De Villiers Engelbrecht echoed the sentiment. “Teaming up with Turkish Airlines is a big step forward. It gives our customers easier access to Turkish Airlines’ global network, and at the same time showcases the strength of Airlink’s brand and reach within Africa.”

The move is part of Turkish Airlines’ broader strategy to grow its footprint in Africa and enhance regional travel experiences, offering smoother connections, simplified ticketing, and more convenience for travelers heading to or from the continent.
