Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced the conditions under which domestic pilgrims can receive refunds for cancelled Hajj reservations ahead of the annual pilgrimage in June.

According to the ministry, refunds will be issued in specific cases, including the death of the main applicant, a refund for a wife if her husband passes away, or traffic accidents that prevent the pilgrim from performing Hajj. In all instances, proof of the claim must be provided.

Additionally, refunds may be granted if a pilgrim experiences a criminal incident or a medical emergency requiring hospitalization. Reports from government hospitals are required, while reports from private hospitals must be certified by health authorities and written in Arabic.

Cancellation Process and Eligibility

The ministry emphasized that cancellations must be processed through the official website or the Nusuk app before a refund can be issued.

Saudi authorities have also reaffirmed that priority for Hajj registration is given to those who have not previously performed the pilgrimage, except for individuals accompanying an eligible pilgrim. Applicants must ensure their national ID or residency permit remains valid until at least the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, the day following the climax of Hajj.

Pilgrims are also required to be in good health, free from acute, contagious, or chronic illnesses, and must complete mandatory vaccinations for meningitis and seasonal influenza.

Hajj 2025 Preparations

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, requiring all financially and physically capable Muslims to perform the pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime. Last year, approximately 1.8 million Muslims took part in the pilgrimage, including 1.6 million from outside Saudi Arabia.
