Students of Grade 8 from Bhavans- Bahrain Indian School (BIS) embarked on an extraordinary educational visit to INS Surat at Mina Salman, Bahrain, an experience that seamlessly blended academic enrichment with patriotic inspiration. The visit was graciously organised by the Embassy of India in Bahrain as part of its continued efforts to foster meaningful engagement between students and national institutions.

INS Surat, a state-of-the-art guided missile destroyer of the Indian Navy, offered students an immersive glimpse into the technological sophistication and operational precision that underpin India’s maritime defence capabilities. The young learners were given an exclusive, closeup exposure to the vessel’s advanced navigation, surveillance, and combat systems, gaining valuable insights into modern naval architecture and defence technology.

Naval officers conducted an engaging orientation session, sharing first-hand perspectives on life at sea, the rigours of naval training, and the values of discipline, leadership, and teamwork that define the Armed Forces. The interactive question-and-answer segment sparked curiosity and enthusiasm among students, many of whom expressed a newfound interest in exploring careers in the Navy and defence services.

The visit was further distinguished by the warm hospitality extended by the officers and crew of INS Surat. Students were treated to refreshments and presented with commemorative souvenirs, making the occasion both memorable and meaningful.

Speaking on the occasion, the school management expressed their profound appreciation to the Embassy of India and the Indian Navy for facilitating such a transformative learning opportunity. They emphasised that experiential learning initiatives of this nature significantly broaden students’ horizons, nurturing civic responsibility, global awareness, and national pride.

The educational excursion concluded on a high note, leaving students inspired, informed, and deeply respectful of the dedication and valour of the Indian Armed Forces. The visit to INS Surat stands as a testament to BIS’s commitment to providing holistic, real-world learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom.
