India is set to open its first FIA-CIK-approved karting track. The new facility, named the Madras International Karting Arena (MIKA), will be inaugurated by Formula 1 World Champion Mika Hakkinen on September 19. Located at the Madras International Circuit near Chennai, MIKA features a 1.2 km track designed by UK-based motorsport design firm Driven International, with input from former F1 driver Karun Chandhok.

This world-class karting facility will not only support the growth of local racing talent but will also help reduce the costs associated with training and competing for emerging racers by hosting international events such as the World Rotax Finals.
