Dair claim second win in Gulf clubs handball

Bahrain’s Al Dair were triumphant yesterday in the 40th Gulf Clubs Handball Championship, currently being played in Doha.

The Bahraini outfit defeated Oman SC of Oman 25-23 to come away with their second triumph in Group A of the tournament’s preliminary round.

Dair led 13-9 at the half and did enough to close the game out with the two-goal final. winning margin.

Bahrain national team star Hassan Madan was named the Player of the Match for Dair.

The result followed their opening-game win against Burgan SC of Kuwait. Dair return to action tomorrow when they complete their opening round campaign against Al Arabi of Qatar at 6pm.

Bahrain’s other representative in the competition, Al Shabab, are set to take to the playing court today.

After losing their first game to Al Rayyan of Qatar in Group B, they will be facing Mleeha of the UAE this afternoon at 4pm.

Also in their pool are Al Kuwait SC of Kuwait, whom Shabab face on Friday at 6pm.

Dair and Shabab are hoping to improve on the silver-medal finish of Bahrain’s Al Najma Club in last year’s tournament, held in the Kingdom.
